Flashing new firmware to a NextStep chemical metering pump from a thumb drive.
This is a brief, supplemental guide. Follow all site protocols and applicable laws, and for more information consult the latest installation and operation manual or contact the manufacturer.
This opens the pump’s electronics. Unplug every power supply to the pump before removing the faceplate, and let the power dissipate. With the faceplate off, the pump’s ingress protection is gone and its circuit boards are exposed — work somewhere water and chemicals cannot get in. If the pump has to be moved to do this safely, depressurize it and clean it first, wearing appropriate PPE.
Use a clean thumb drive with no other files on it, formatted FAT32 — the usual format, but reformat it if yours is different.
Copy the firmware file to the drive’s root directory — not into a folder. Eject the drive safely.
Unplug the pump, remove the faceplate, take out the thumb drive, and secure the faceplate again.
