Choosing where the InteliHive goes, and fixing it there. The right place keeps the controller dry and cool, within reach of its devices, and readable by the people who work on the system.
Isolate power before mounting or moving the controller. See Isolating Equipment, and Site and Environment for choosing a location.
Enclosure dimensions, fixing points, and ingress rating for the current hardware are not yet in this manual. Check the product label and data sheet before choosing a location.
Keep it away from chemicals. Mount the controller away from — and ideally above — chemical tanks, dosing pumps, and injection points, so a leak or splash cannot reach it. Keep it out of the path of acid or chlorine fumes.
Keep it away from heat and steam. Not above hot pipework, blowdown lines, or boiler vents.
Keep it within cable reach. Modbus probes, relay boards, and IO-Link sensors are wired to the controller. Mounting it close to them keeps cable runs short, which keeps noise down and voltage drop low. IO-Link sensors are wired point to point, one per port.
Keep it within WiFi range — of its own devices. Wireless switches and outlets join the controller’s own network, so each must be within range of the controller itself. Metal enclosures, panels, and concrete walls cut range; see Wireless devices.
Keep it readable. The display and status LEDs are how an operator checks the system at a glance. Mount it at a height and angle where they can be read and the buttons reached.
Leave room to work. Allow space below and around it for cable glands, cable bends, and service access.
Then continue to Wiring.
